Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, Richard D. Wood Pediatric Ambulatory Care Center, Philadelphia, PA

SITE-BLAUVELT Engineers was retained to provide geotechnical, construction inspection and testing services for this project which involved the construction of a $50 million, 6-story medical facility adjacent to Children’s Hospital. Subsequent to SITE-Blauvelt Engineers’ provision of geotechnical-related services during the design phase, our firm was selected to provide full-scope field testing and inspection during construction. Specific aspects of construction that our staff oversaw included sitework (excavation, soil compaction, preparation of the foundation subgrades, backfilling of the foundations and subdrains), caissons (including concrete pours), subdrain installation, structural concrete, erection of precast panels, erection of structural steel, metal deck and spray-fireproofing. Additionally, our staff was assigned to inspect the concrete batch plant and steel fabrication facility on an as-needed basis.

All soils and concrete compressive-strength testing was completed in SITE-BLAUVELT’s AASHTO/ASTM-accredited laboratory.
