
Maher Port Terminal Reconfiguration, Port Newark, NJSITE-BLAUVELT Engineers was retained as the project geotechnical engineer during the reconfiguration of this 250-acre marine container loading/unloading, handling, and shipping facility. The scope of the project involves reconstructing the existing land-side portions of the facility and includes re-leveling of the pavement areas, upgrading of the site drainage, upgrading of the facility's electric power distribution system, duct bank construction, upgrading of the lighting system (including an array of 100 new, 120 ft high light masts), installation of new cranes and related infrastructure. Geotechnical work includes: subsurface investigation, pavement core collection and asphalt extraction, soil sampling, soil testing, geotechnical analysis, settlement analysis, evaluation of foundation systems for the proposed new structures, pile analysis and design, spread footing evaluation and design, settlement analysis, and report preparation. SITE-Blauvelt completed over 100 test borings at the facility and collected over 500 soil samples for geotechnical testing and compatibility testing. |
