MT. LAUREL (NJ) - The Delaware Valley
Section of the American Society of Highway Engineers recently bestowed its Project of the Year Award for 1998 to SITE-BLAUVELT Engineers for its design of the Trumbauersville Road (Main Street) Reconstruction Project in Trumbauersville, Bucks County, PA.
The objective of the project was to remediate the unsafe level of service along a 1.2 mile length of Main Street that had been created due to years of resurfacing
activity, as well as realign two key intersections to improve their capacity and level of service operations. As the project impacted approximately 150 property owners, a key
component in the success of the project was the use of open public meetings and workshops that were held by SITE-BLAUVELT and PennDOT to address the key concerns of local residents and the Borough Council. The firm's Project Manager, Serban Niculescu, P.E., and roadway designers then incorporated a variety of elements into the project that would ensure pedestrian safety during construction, maintain timely construction progress, and enhance the area's rural, aesthetic character. "SITE-BLAUVELT's
dedication to improving the roadway while providing a safe, sound design for carrying traffic through our District has been outstanding," remarked Andrew Warren PennDOT
District Administrator, "The Department is very pleased with the design."
SITE-BLAUVELT's entry in the ASHE competition
was selected from among eight (8) other projects that were submitted for review. "While this project represented a typical roadway reconstruction effort on the surface,
it's completion meant a lot of things to a lot of people," according to Dick Prentice of the ASHE selection committee. "SITE-BLAUVELT fully understood PennDOT's scope of work and the needs of the community and never lost sight of the original goal of the project. We applaud their patience and hard work."
SITE-BLAUVELT Engineers provides highway and bridge design, construction inspection and testing, geotechnical engineering, and subsurface drilling services to both public and private-sector clients throughout the northeastern United States.
