	Route 9 over Nacote Creek (Section 15D) Instrumentation, Galloway Twp., Atlantic County, NJ SITE-BLAUVELT Engineers was retained by the contractor to provide field oversight and direction associated with the required installation of specialty geotechnical instrumentation (completed by SITE-BLAUVELT drill crews), including four (4) vibrating wire piezometers, seven (7) inclinometers and six (6) extensometers to monitor pore pressures, lateral displacements and vertical settlements induced by applied surcharge loads. Extensometers and inclinometers were installed to depths of 90 to 100 feet below ground surface under difficult drilling conditions. Additional responsibilities of our staff included establishing baseline measurements for each instrument installed, assisting with the training of owner representatives responsible for ongoing monitoring, and providing oversight during the installation of strain gages that were installed on geotextile material that was used for reinforcement of fill material.
