Timber PileTesting for Water Tank / Ship Bottom, Ocean County, NJSITE-BLAUVELT Engineers was retained by the contractor to provide pile dynamic analysis testing at the new municipal water tank located in Ship Bottom, New Jersey. The new water tank was constructed next to the existing municipal water authority’s water tower and is schedule for total completion in September ‘05. The project called for Pile Dynamic Analysis (PDA) testing two (2) of the121 timber piles used in the foundation of the tank. Not only did the PDA test successfully calculate the required capacity, it also monitored the pile for avoidable driving stresses that can be encountered during driving through hard sand layers. Using the PDA, the contractor was given a comprehensive pile capacity report that reflected a higher level of data fidelity that would not have been achieved by simply using the ENR formula. With this level of analysis and support we were successful in achieving and delivering the required capacity on this project. |
