Structure and Bridge Design

The diverse structural design and inspection capabilities of SITE-BLAUVELT Engineers run the full gamut of services that are needed to address the concerns of today's complex transportation infrastructure.

Serving the needs of transportation agencies throughout NJ, NY, VA, WV, DE, SC, CT, MD, OH and PA, our engineers and designers have participated in the completion of numerous projects comprised of short-, medium- and long-span bridges; retaining walls; noise walls; box culverts; and small buildings.

Encompassing new, rehabilitated (including seismic retrofits) and replacement structures, our designs have been provided for a variety of structure types including:
  • simple and mulit-span steel through-truss
  • deck truss
  • plate girder (tangent and curved)
  • steel box girder (including continuous curved girder structures)
  • cable-stayed
  • concrete segmental
  • precast box beam and prestressed I-beam
To ensure the integrity of our country's transportation infrastructure, SITE-BLAUVELT Engineers has also completed bridge inspections, ratings and appraisals for various types of fixed-steel, concrete and masonry bridges; all types of movable bridges; and continuous viaduct structures. Our inspection team members are knowledgeable of the many codes and standards that have been established to govern such work, foremost of which is the criteria and guidelines established by NBIS, AASHTO and the FHWA.

To effectively manage and expedite our bridge design workload, our firm relies on a host of computer resources that include much of the state-of-the-art technology that is in use today. To expedite project assignments, we make maximum use of PC-based CADD systems that allow for the storage of typical bridge and roadway details, provide for similarity of plan layouts and enable rapid duplication for the efficient preparation of Bridge Plan Sheets. Designs are developed using such systems as AASHTO IGrds, InRoads and MicroStation.

Additionally, SITE-BLAUVELT Engineers employs the latest in structural engineering software to facilitate timely, efficient and innovative engineering solutions to the challenges which are presented by a particular project assignment.
