	Trumbauersville Road, Borough of Trumbauersville, Bucks County, PA SITE-BLAUVELT Engineers was retained by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) to prepare the final design associated with major improvements to a 1.2 mile section of Main Street. The improvements were needed to rectify an unsafe level of service caused by years of resurfacing work that was completed without removing the existing pavement, as well as enhance the capacity and level of service operations at several key intersections. The redesigned typical section for the roadway consists of two (2), eleven-foot lanes, a seven-foot parking lane, and a sidewalk on both sides of the roadway. In addition to the roadway reconstruction work, the project included: realignment of two intersections with no right-of-way take to channelize the traffic and accommodate the turning movements required by heavy industrial traffic in the area; new drainage, water line replacement and improvements to the sanitary sewer system; relocation of overhead utilities; and the construction of kneewall replacements at various properties within the project area. As the project impacted nearly 150 property owners, a key component in the success of the project was the series of open public meetings and workshops that were held by SITE-BLAUVELT and PennDOT to address the key concerns of local residents and the Borough Council. SITE-BLAUVELT's Project Manager and roadway designers were then able to incorporate a variety of elements into the project that would ensure pedestrian safety during construction, maintain timely construction progress, and incorporate aesthetically-pleasing materials that would blend with the area's rural character. The successful construction of the project resulted in SITE-BLAUVELT's receipt of the American Society of Highway Engineers' Project of the Year Award for 1998, as determined by the organization's Delaware Valley Section.
